I Am a Heretic In her opening address to the 76th General Convention of the Episcopal Church, Her Grace, the Presiding Bishop called anyone who believes in personal, individual salvation through Jesus Christ a heretic.
The AT&T stores claim they don't have any iPhones, and even if they did, they wouldn't sell one to me with me handing them money and waiting 2 weeks. "Every iPhone everywhere has been pre-ordered by someone. You will not be able to come in and buy one to take home that day for several months." The Apple store is the only place where iPhones evidently actually exist. So I trekked off to Willow Bend Mall....
...only to find out that they wanted full price of $499. "AT&T's computers say that her actual upgrade period begins August 4." Then the final unintended insult: "$499 is a discounted price for the 32G device. The full price is $699. See all the people lined up against that wall? They are willing to pay that price tonight. If you want a discounted price, AT&T says it's August."
Of course, AT&T swears to me that the inflexibility in upgrade dates and prices comes from Apple. Apple claims it's AT&T.
sivib, it turns out wanted the larger one anyway, so I will be saving money for several months longer to get her 40th birthday present.

Ironically, sivib is perfectly fine in waiting for either the order or getting one to take home. I'm the impatient one, as usual.
Project iSivi Execution Delay Our friends at AT&T said that Apple is being absolutely inflexible on upgrade dates. This means that we can not execute the plan until July 4. Period. AT&T would be happy to take our money, but Apple won't let it happen. I'll collect funds next week and we'll go do it for her on ID4
Project iSivi Update Ok, folks. We have $125 promised for Sivi's birthday present. Thank you to those who have jumped in to help me surprise the best wife a man can have. I will place the order tonight or tomorrow. If you have not jumped in and want to throw $10 or $20 into the pot, please let me know.
