The computer saga continues
For those only on LJ, the PC died last Wednesday. The startup registry got corrupted. We tried reloading the OS and replacing the hard drive. Nothing worked. The computer is dead. Tonight I went to Frys to purchase a new one. After pondering for a while, I chose an HP refub. model that while does not replace what I had, it would have more memory and more HD space, and cost $350. A new copy of NERO and a couple of minor gadgets later, and I was on my way home. After Miles was in bed I unpacked the CPU and plugged it in. The result: black screen of death: this computer had the same startup registry corruption. One is an event. Twice is a coincidence. Three times is a statistic. Four times is a sign from God that I can't have a PC right now. I'll be on the un-syncable iPhone for Internet until further notice. The Zune and iPhone can be charged without a PC.
While I am frustrated to the point of tears (no Doctor Who on Christmas Day), I am still thankful for the important stuff: My wife, my boys, a brother-Christ in Austin who keeps me accountable, and a Church where the Gospel is preached weekly. Now, if I could just findy music folder before tomorrow night's service....
